Julian Kytasty – Musical Director/Instructor

As Musical Director of NY Bandura, Julian Kytasty provides the creative vision for the organization. A third generation player from a renowned bandura family, Mr. Kytasty combines traditional training with formal schooling in music (BFA in theory and composition Concordia 1995), and with thirty years of career experience as a performer, composer, educator, choral conductor, recording artist, lecturer, workshop leader, concert organizer, and tour manager. The stature he has achieved in the bandura community and his contacts with musicians in Ukraine and around the globe have been an enormous asset to NY Bandura.

John Lechicky – Executive Director

John Lechicky began his membership in NY Bandura as a student in 1975. He was a founding member of the Echo of the Steppes Bandura Ensemble and took over the reigns as Musical Director 1987-92, 1993-95. Mr. Lechicky has his undergraduate degree from New York University. From 1995-97, he headed up a technical assistance program in Ukraine administered by the International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX). Upon completion of the project, John was asked to serve as Director of Field Operations for IREX in Washington, D.C.. In 1999 John relocated to New York City and most recently served as Capital Program Coordinator for the City University of New York.

Nadia Tatchin Scaglione – Administrator

Ms. Tatchin has served as Administrator and Treasurer for NY Bandura since 1999. From 1991-98 she worked at the National Office of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), first as Assistant Director and then Director.

Ihor Slabicky - Curator of Audio Archives

Ihor Slabicky is the content specialist and strategist responsible for acquisitions that will reside in the NY Bandura audio archives. Initiated projects under his supervision include: recording performances, producing CDs from these recordings, providing CDs to the artists, acquiring historic recordings, digitalization of analog recordings, and developing a repository of assets for current and future reference.
